ENDLESS HALF TERM ENTERTAINMENT – THE RARE BREEDS CENTRE HAS IT ALL

Half term is just around the corner and with under two weeks to go, school children are no doubt bursting with excitement and anticipation; a whole week off from uniforms, homework and teachers, half term is the time to unwind. But, with this cold and wet weather that we’re experiencing at the moment, some parents may be worrying about how their little darlings will be kept entertained (especially if they are cooped up inside for the entire week). Well, never fear because here at the Rare Breeds Centre we have a whole host of incredible activities to keep children entertained, and out of mischief…

The weather need not be a problem as here on the farm we have a huge indoor play barn. Packed with soft toys, rope tunnels, bridges and climbing frames, the children can run riot in here and let off steam without having to worry about the winter elements. Mum and Dad can even keep a watchful eye whilst relaxing in a warm and cosy environment.

The main attraction to the farm is obviously the animals, and here we have another two great indoor enclosures. Firstly, we have our Children’s Barn where children can meet and play with the animals. From cuddly rabbits to guinea pigs and lively pygmy goats, lots of wonderful animals live here. There will be two daily ‘meet the animal’ sessions from 11.15am-12.30pm and 1.30-3.30pm where children will not only be able to pet the different animals but will also learn more about them.

Secondly, our Creepy Crawly room is also nice and sheltered and allows children to explore the world of all things creepy! Home to snakes, beetles, lizards and spiders, we have it all and on the 16th February from 11am, we will receive an exciting visit from some tarantulas and scorpions –a visit that you do not want to miss.

In addition to these wonderful indoor activities, we also have delicious food available in our Granary Restaurant  and daily falconry displays at 2:30pm (weather permitting). If the weather is good there will also be trailer rides from 12 noon, taking you right to the top of the Farm. So, instead of staying indoors at home this half term why not venture out and visit us at the Rare Breeds Centre? We have a whole variety of activities and attractions to entertain both children and adults, whatever the weather.
