Problematic Pop Music Quizzes, which first started in November 1992, are designed and run by C.O.T parents Debbie and Ken Chappell and their very good friends, Jim Graham and Tony Elgood.

They give 100% of the proceeds of the quizzes directly to Canterbury Oast Trust and have raised (as at January 2012) over £148,000 via 477 quizzes funding equipment at The Rare Breeds Centre such as a large Horticulture Polytunnel, Walk-In Aviary and Butterfly Tunnel, plus an upgrade to the Mariner's Tea Room at Rye and a new Utility Room and Extension at Rosemary Cottage, the Special Needs Bungalow at Woodchurch where debbie and ken's son, Christopher, lives.

The quiz team live in West Wickham and Beckenham and do most of their quizzes locally, but travel further afield by special arrangement.

It is designed as a fun quiz, but can also be a test for even the most knowledgeable, as shown by a total of 160 points per quiz and the record is an amazing 152 !

They currently have 22 different versions of the quiz which are all similar is style, with 7 rounds and the quizzes typically last 3 hours (assuming a 30 minute for food etc. etc.).

Each quiz has rounds for :

1. Short Cuts

2. One By Two

A cover versions round. 10 tracks, 2 versions of each, where you name the 10 pairs of artists/groups.

3. Films, TV, Radio, Musicals, Adverts

5. A variable round usually themed. As with all rounds, 20 points at stake.

6. The Next Line

A joker doubles the scores on any of the first 6 rounds above.

All you need to do is to get the hall, the people and to organise any food, drink plus prizes (winners and losers usually works well).

In return, the current donation amount to C.O.T is a minimum of £250 (which is given 100% to C.O.T), but people also do things such as exit collections, raffles/heads and tails games to boost the donations plus people have separately run marathons, 3 peaks challenges, Everest/Kilimanjaro hikes, Christmas collections, employee : company  50:50 matching donations etc. etc. which have boosted the donations to C.O.T by over 25% over the years.

The team bring all the equipment needed to run the quiz (amplifiers, speakers etc.) and blank answer sheets and a team of 3 or 4 to run the quiz and mark the answer sheets. All they require from the venue is a table or two for their equipment plus access to a power point.
