Volunteer visit to Rare Breeds Centre

The staff at Department of Student Support and Guidance at Canterbury Christchurch College decided to follow the advice they normally give to their students.

A group of twenty six came to volunteer at the Rare Breeds. It was a team building exercise for them. They spent the day loping branches of the various Hornbeam, Oak, Ash, and Field Maple trees which make up Rainbow Woods and cutting back bramble. The threatened rain did not appear, the day was just right and the tools we provided did the job well. The volunteers worked very hard and were able to cover a large area.

We would like to think that they found it a worthwhile and rewarding exercise. They have offered to come back another time and donated £250 on top! Thank you Judy Challis and Geoff Haworth. They were very ably supervised by Dr. Roland Emson, our long term volunteer and Matthew Quaife, a member of staff at Poulton Wood.

Canterbury Oast Trust is now a member of the FundRaising Standards Board

We can now use their logo and agree to abide by the highest standards in all of our fundraising activities.

For members of the public this means we can help you 'give with confidence'. By knowing that a charity is a member of the Fundraising Standards Board scheme, you can be reassured that they are committing to the highest standards of fundraising practice. What's more, if you have a specific fundraising complaint - for example, if you think a charity member is raising funds in an inappropriate manner - we can help you take it forward. For more information, please visit www.frsb.org.uk

Thanks to Hitrade

Our Charity shop in Sidcup now has more volunteers and goes from strength to strength. They made substantial donations to COT this year towards the Venetian Fete and our stand at the Hampton Court Flower Show.
