"On Sunday 11th July 2010 I participated in the London 10k run. I headed out of Ashford on the 7am train arriving in London with more than enough time to deliver my bag at the baggage bays and head for the start line!

From the moment I set foot in London the atmosphere was amazing. It had a great vibe about the place, with 23,000 people about to embark on a 10k run to raise money for their chosen charity. I felt very proud to be one of them - supporting and raising money for Canterbury Oast Trust!

I met so many people on my walk to the start line. We spent time chatting about how much or how little training we had done and how much money we were expecting to raise.

Everybody was eager to start but at the same time apprehensive about how it was going to go! It was very hot that day but so well organised with bottles of water all around the course. It was very emotional as I reached the start line with everybody setting of and running at their own pace.

The support along the way was phenomenal from all the supporters which were ten deep in places! We ran past so many iconic places throughout London on our quest to reach the finish.

With the finish line in sight I mustered up the energy to sprint - crossing the finish line in 1 hour 12 minutes. It was a fantastic achievement and an amazing experience, one that I hope I will complete again next year!".
